Its hard to believe its already been 3 years since I left elc. Though many of us claim to hate the school, it was the time where i spent (so far) the best years of my life. One thing i would boast is that eventhough its been three years, we haven’t lost track of almost anyone in our year, and we know almost exactly what everyone’s doing(in terms of studies). So here’s a little update my future self and for those who visit my blog on hows everyone doing at this point in time-

While casting around for a topic to write on I realised that I haven’t really spoken about my New Year Resolutions. So here it is-

I don’t plan on having any.

It’s true. I mean i can’t really be bothered to make any new year resolutions, since if i do i would probably just break it after like a month? Might as well just go with the flow and do stuff as i go…i mean no pressure that way yea?

Lately i’ve been stalking something. Call me a peeping tom if you like. But i simply cannot get my eyes off the Sony Vaio C! Yea i know its very un-yow keat-like to be drooling over something so freaking expensive, but hey, a guys gotta break sometime right? I’m saving my money for it now- I’ve kinda calculated though and even saving all my cash will not reach the target RM4488 by June. So i’m hoping my parents would be kind enough to chip in the last few hundred…=P

Fat hope. but since there’s still hope there, then there’s a chance.

First post of the year January 15, 2007

And so, the first post of the year 2007.

Believe me, i have tried to post entries several times the past few weeks but i just couldn’t continue after starting. i lost my wireless router for almost a month plus which confined me to sitting on the floor with my laptop connected to the temporary router through LAN.(probably one of the factors why i couldn’t think right, its was kinda uncomfortable)

perhaps i’ll give an update on whats happened for the past month plus.

- worked (and still working) at MUST, Malaysia University of Science and Technology under Dr Yeo, my temporary Biochemistry lecturer last semester. I’m working as an assistant to his research assistants, so basically quoting Grey’s Anatomy, “i’m a nobody, the bottom of the biotech food chain” i work basicall 9 to 5, 5 days a week unless i take leave. I get paid a measly 500 bucks per month, but then again what could i expect, for someone who has no prior lab experience? So far i can say i’m pretty happy with what i’ve learnt and done, though it can be quite boring and repetitive. I deal with plasmids/DNA/bacteria, so basically alot of ligations/plasmid extractions/ use of restriction enzymes/ electrophoresis/ agar plating/ preparation of stock solutions

- spent new year’s eve and new year’s in Singapore with my cousins- which is probably one of the last times i will be spending my holidays with now that i’ll be leaving for australia in July.

- Speaking of Australia, i’ve begun planning for my departure down under. plane tickets, transfer forms, VISAs and so forth have been my topic of research on google the past week or two. Somehow i have this conflicted feeling, a feeling of eagerness and also reluctantness. I’m really looking forward to life in Australia, but at the same time the prospect of not returning for two years is rather daunting.

- organised a rather failed gathering for my primary school mates. was hoping more than the previous 18 people could turn up, but we only ended up with 6 of us. Though there were only the 6 of us i would say in terms of communication and mixing around it went very well, with no awkwardness or silent moments. Lunch at TGIF 1u was pretty good, and until further notice i suppose i will remain the unofficial Mr. organiser. Hopefully Yang lao shi will be a part of our next gathering.

-Actually just returned from Gentings with 6 other fellas from elc. the whole trip was simply awesome despite the reduced number of people who went. 3 days and 2 nights really seemed way to short for everything, making the trip seem rather bittersweet. what was suppose to be a trip of relaxing turned out to be, as i quote Sarah, ” a mahjong/food pilgramage” We were either playing mahjong/eating/ or playing mahjong and eating+talking about food. I really would say all the planning Gavin and i did did not go to waste, and all the effort was worth it. This trip left me with rather conflicting feelings, causing to ponder on some things (and no, if you guys were wondering, the gypsy cards have nothing to do with this=P) Really want another trip like this but i really doubt that i will be able to make it since i would be the first to leave for australia come July.

And some thoughts for 2007
- its the big 20 this year._. its amazing how time breezed past, especially these few years. This July will mark the end of my oh sweet teenage years. I-AM-SO-FREAKING-OLD.

pictures will come around later. Happy belated new year to everyone =)
