I apologise to whoever reads this page, I am really loaded with assignments, tests, reports and such these two weeks and I’m completely bowled over by them.

I’ve just completed my GEN2052 reports (like, 20 plus pages!) and I still have another 2 reports, one test and an essay to complete by next week. Like what the hell, I thought Australia was suppose to be more laid back, relaxed and such.

However, that hasn’t stopped me from cooking my own food.

So…just a taste of what I eat over here- Mind you, I don’t eat like this everyday, its a once in a blue( or well, red) moon thing-

Pork chops, with apple sauce! + some badly overcooked onions, corn and corn soup =P

What we do in labs in Australia August 24, 2007

I’ve always wondered, you know, when we were back in KL how the labs were like in Clayton.

In my head a large, white, clean lab would pop up, with all the instruments and reagents in place, complimented by a hot sexy out of the world lab demo/partner.

Haha ah well, I suppose you could cross out the last one, its not really like me to put it the last bit is it.

Seriously though, it has been pretty much what I’ve imagined it to be here in Monash Clayton. We have sufficient equipment and instruments, we have hot demos and we have large labs with overhead projectors and even irish lecturers who show us clips of the irish dance on Youtube during labs.

However I would also say that this week I did the weirdest, and really, the weirdest lab I had ever done in my life so far.

Take a stab at what you think those are.

Go on.

No?

well..I’ll give you a hint.  Those are tubes, each with a male and female Drosophila fruit fly.

AHA. Yeap. In GEN2052, we get to watch flies copulate. Yes that is how it was worded in tha lab manual. Or as I quote my lecturer :” The closest thing you get to porn- Fly porn.”

I was over at Sarah’s place on Friday for a visit since I’ve HARDLY seen her since ever..And I had a pleasantly, superbly orgasmic surprise when I helped her throw out her disfunctional vacuum cleaner in the dumpster at the basement carpark-

An Aston DB9- for those less informed, the Aston DB9 was the car featured briefly in the last James Bond movie, Casino Royale.

Except this was a step better-

It was a freakin CONVERTIBLE.

Now I’m not usually a Car man, much less one for sports cars-I iodlize the Mini Cooper, so you know the sort of cars i like. But this car simply looked SO sweet and awesome and strong and masculine at the same time it completely took me over. I mean you simply don’t SEE cars like that in Malaysia, or for that matter, on the road.

This weekend was a rather eventful one for me- Met Bernard and Jooken for viet food this afternoon in the city, which ended with the pair of them dragging me off for a game of DOTA- YEA you heard me, DOTA. Yow Keat playing DOTA?? Dude thats like me landing a date!

But with Jooken…’tutoring’ I made it through playing three on five insane (which speaks volumes for me, I only died like…3-4 times and I made FIVE kills!”LIKE WHOA!”) It I have to say, its really stirred me up to want to give DOTA a go =P

Its halftime for the manchester derby….and man the games going like the previous two United games- Full of potential but SHIT score.

Its a nice, cosy looking home isn’t it?

When I first got here, this was where I stayed- At a friend of mine back in secondary school at elc- Marie

For the past few weekends I’ve been staying over at her place(she stays with her mum) and well, since its where I spend alot of my time I thought I’ll show you guys abit of it.

Here’s the sitting room- although small its cosy, and the TV has cable! Foxtel, its called in Australia, similar to Astro except Foxtel provides even porn channels =P Its very popular of them to ai The Simpsons- prior to the start of uni, they had a Simpsons marathon every morning from 8-12pm I think- Its crazy the amount of Simpsons episodes I’ve been loaded with in that short space of time I was there.

Bedroom! This is Marie’s bedroom- Bloody cold because the house doesn’t have central heating. The kitchen, laundry room, toilet and bathroom are the coldest – So its not surprising that we all spend most of our time in the sitting room, where theres a large big ass gas heater.

perhaps I’ll show you pictures of where I stay in Clayton later on, atm my rooms a mess ( yea I can’t imagine how I can get it into such a state, but there you go).

Procrastinating- don’t we just love doing it August 13, 2007

As I sit here with my Gen3040 lab manual in front of me, preparing to rush for my assignment due tomorrow, I find that my mind began to wonder again…to my blog.

Which is a good thing I suppose, since its been a while since I updated.

Last Friday came and went- Monash Multicultural Night Ball was held that night, and after much thought I decided not to go. No it wasn’t the price, I pretty much lost the whole “ZOMG everything is x3 here!” mentality.

It was more of the whole “I can’t eat this and that, and I can’t  drink, yadayadayada…” that kept me from going. After hearing what a ball of a time those fellas who went had, I kinda regret not going. Ah well. Maybe the next ball then.

Oh and guess what people! Linkin Park is freakin coming to Melbourne! I bloody wanna go watch then, but its a bloody 100bucks! AND its on Oct 13th, which is bloody exam month.

Its almost 9pm already and I still haven’t finished my work.

My head has rather random thoughts now at the moment, so bear with me kays.

Oh yea I got my visa label done,so I can officially work now in Australia. Now I just need to get my skin right, write up my resume and then find a job.

I would also like to send out a prayer to a good friend of my sister’s, Kenneth, who passed away on the 11th after the cancer finally took over him. Eventhough I didn’t know him well, I knew he was always a ball of fun, and it pains me to know that that kid was taken at what should have been the prime of his life. He was a real joker, a lame one at times but that totally added to his fun-factor. Rest in peace, Kenneth.

Okay. Erm. Back to work.

The art of writing August 7, 2007

I’ve always envied people who could write. As they do, they are able to convene all their thoughts, emotions to the reader; and simply bowl him/her over with it. The flow of the sentences, the clever phrases they use, the amazing descriptions that they use to set the tone and mood…I have always wanted to write as they do.

It might be hard to believe, but I am a rather hopeless romantic, a rather..emotional person. I suppose I myself have forgotten how it was since the last real time was in my secondary school days. And it is because of this I envy those who can write. I would give anything to be able to project my emotions, feelings, thoughts to the reader. Even when its not about romance- whatever I am feeling.

It is not that I wish upon others to feel sorrow if I do so, but more of them understanding how I feel. To me, to have a flair in writing is the most amazing thing one can have- People like Emma, Maxine, Melody, Kennysia and to lesser extend but no less amazing, Eric, Tjia wen and and a few others I can’t place in my mind at the moment. It sometimes pains me that I can’t convey my thoughts properly though writing, as it keeps my feelings bottled up- as if like I know that the person on the other side reading my piece doesn’t really get it.

And more often then not, I can never find a suitable conclusion- as like now.

Hoyts August 6, 2007

I miss home

I miss alot of things.

Anyway. Hoyts? sounds like some weird baby-talk doesn’t it?

In fact, its the name of a cinema.

Yeeeap. You heard me. A cinema. Instead of TGV and GSC, we have Hoyts, Village, and a bunch of other smaller cinemas here in Melbourne.

Now I’ve been resisting the urge to watch a movie ever since touching down to melbourne, simply because each ticket costs around 11bucks. I managed to stop myself from watching Transformers again ( and well, partially because nobody wanted to accompany me) I managed to stop myself from watching Harry Potter ( Cuz my sister told me it was crap, and i so totally trust her) and I managed to stop myself from watching The Simpsons Movie until everyone started bombarding me with the phrase “Spiderpig”. That pretty much drove me nuts.

I mean, what the hell did “spiderpig” have anything to do with Simpsons?

And well, there was the fact that Marie agreed to go watch it with me last Friday at Chadstone ( AND she got student priced vouchers!)

I have to say, I was rather impressed with how the australian cinemas looked like. I mean, its got curtains and everything- if I didn’t tell you I was in a cinema I could have fooled you into thinking that I was at some Production/Play/Ochestra (you get the idea) I won’t spoil the whole Spiderpig thing for you, go watch the movie ( IT was AWESOME) well not LOTR awesome but well, funny awesome.

Eh? oh for the uninformed, Chadstone is a shopping mall, HUGE by Australian standards thats located between Clayton and Caufield. Its one of the placed that makes you feel likeyou’re back home shopping in 1U or Megamall. Ahhh how I miss the ridiculously enormous shopping malls.

I’ve almost forgot how great blogging is- perhaps not blogging per say, but like just spilling my thoughts and perhaps sharing it with everyone, especially in this time when simply just talking helps the most.

Anyway.

It is rather late, a month or so, precisely, but as they say, better late than never right? So here goes, – dated 1st July 2007- At Melbourne Airport, around 8am?
