Summer so far. December 9, 2007

Its been awhile since I’ve blogged and ironically it requires a time when I don’t have a computer for me to finally continue blogging. To all who still don’t know yet- I’m stuck in Australia. Actually I guess ’stuck’ isn’t such a good word because I’m kinda enjoying my life here even when I’m not home in Malaysia with friends and family. Of course I DO miss them, but well, as you will see later, I have stuff to keep me fully occupied.So. Summer. To be honest I believe this season has got to be the most annoying season ever. Its hot, You sweat, and there’s annoying amount of flies that pester you to no tomorrow. Its a vicious cycle. You walk out, and its hot. You being to sweat, and you get like…3 or 4 flies buzzing around you. You get severely pissed, and so you sweat more- and in that process you attract more flies. The flies buzz ONLY around your face, your ears, and so every step out of your house seems like a potential stroke/heart attack waiting to happen.
Oh what’s keeping me occupied? Summer school is. Yea I picked up summer school after finding out that Monash Clayton actually offers Science units for summer school. The unit is GEN3990, and its a third year research unit- sorta like a prelude, or a taste of what honours life is. Its amazing stuff, really- what I’m doing is essentially stuff nobody in this world has done before. My research topic is- The expression of Haemagluttinin protein of H5N1 avian flu in the hairy roots of transgenic plants, which in the long term hopefully will contribute to the generation of edible vaccines for avian flu. Amazing stuff eh? I would seriously elaborate more, but I know it wouldn’t be of much use anyway since it’ll be a whole bunch of science jargon and non of you guys would really take the time or bother to read it.
Anyway so the only problem is like, I’m kinda stuck with my bacterial transformations at the moment, which don’t seem to be growing. Its stressful, since I’m already behind schedule, and I have a presentation to do this friday and a 1500 word essay due next monday.
Oh yea about why I don’t have my laptop? well it chose an awesome time to like, die on me- just when I need to complete my assignments. Luckily its still on international warranty, so I had guys from HP pick the laptop from my place on Friday last week. Repair would take like, 4-5 days and hence the absence of my laptop for like, a whole friggin week. Awesomeness how karma or whatever it is comes back and smacks you in the face sometimes.
So ends my update. Hopefully Jon’s shiny, not-so-new Mac can lure me back to blog more before the return of my laptop=)
